UPVC Replacement Door Handles
The handles on your doors get worn out over time and need to be replaced. When doing this it is crucial that the new handles are in line with the dimensions of the old handle.
The top screw position as well as the lever and keyhole dimensions are the three measurements that you need to check. Refer to the size guide for assistance with this.
Inline Lever/Lever
A lever or lever door handle is a modern handle that can be put in on new or replacement doors. This type of door handle is available in a wide range of styles and finishes. A number of manufacturers make this type of handle, including Avocet ERA, Fullex, Hoppe, Mila, Millenco & Yale.
Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle
The uPVC/Composite handles are made from durable materials, and are perfect for multi-point lock doors that require a strong design. The handles are inline, and they utilize the same spindle and screws to fix them. They can be easily mounted on a new or existing uPVC/Composite door.
The handle can be positioned and angled to fit the needs of all users. The handle has been tested for endurance up to 200 000 cycles. This ensures that the quality of finish and performance over time. The lever that is sprung can be shortened to fit a wider range of locks. This is particularly useful for narrower door frames in which the cylinder is further back. A shortened lever is also an excellent option for doors that have latches that can be opened by a thumb turn on the inside.
Lever Pad
A Lever Pad upvc door handle operates differently than lever handles that are found on the majority of doors. The handle can operate from a single spindle (inline) or independently from each side by using two offset or inline spindles (pad). They are commonly employed on UPVC doors with double glazing and come in a variety of finishes and variations.
The handles are available in a variety of finishes, including White chrome and Gold. The finish meets BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 and is also resistant to corrosion, thereby giving the handle a high level of durability and performance for its intended use.
All UPVC lever pads for handles include a spindle and screws and can be installed on the uPVC door. The backplate fixation centers of 211mm allow for a wider handle, which is typically an advantage when replacing a damaged or old multi-point door lock mechanism. The handle levers are spring-loaded, thereby solving the issue of handles hanging out of their horizontal position when not in use.

It is crucial to ensure that the dimensions of the PZ for both the multipoint lock as well as the uPVC doors when choosing the replacement UPVC spindle and handle. This measurement is also called the "handle centre" or "cylinder centres' and is a critical aspect of matching up the right handles.
Once you have the correct PZ size you will then have to ensure that the handle lever pads and push pads are a appropriate shape to accommodate the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) compatible handles you need for your doors. These are typically round or square, with an internal lever, and an external push pad.
Most of the UPVC lever pads that we offer are sprung, which means that they will return to their horizontal position when not in use, rather than hanging out and possibly securing in the frame. This stops draughts from entering the property. It is also the case that the majority of the UPVC lever pad handles are handed which allows you to place them on either side of the door.
Euro Cylinder
Cylinder locks are commonly found on uPVC doors, but they can be utilized on other types of door. They work with a key to unlock a cylinder case which is then revealed with pins that can be aligned with those in the lock body, permitting them to turn a revolving cam, thus opening the door. Euro cylinders can be equipped with up to six pins, with internal and external doors generally requiring different levels of security.
The choice of cylinder you choose is crucial. It's dependent on the use that your doors and handles receive. For instance, doors that are external must be secured with an extra secure cylinder, whilst internal doors can be secured using the standard cylinder. In addition, some cylinders have extra features that increase security further, such as anti-drill and anti-bump characteristics.
To make sure that the euro cylinder is of the right size for your door, it must be measured correctly. The cylinder must be measured from the screw hole at the center to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn, in the event that one is present. It is recommended to do this with the lock in place however, in the event that this is not feasible, you can take it off and remove it to measure. A cylinder that extends beyond the handle and escutcheon may be susceptible to attacks like snapping locks, so it is essential to make sure it's not too long.
Most modern cylinders are made with bump and anti-drill features that are built into their design. These are designed to reduce the chances of an attack by forcing the cylinder to rotate in the opposite direction. This can deflect the attack, and protect your door.
There are also cylinders constructed to resist snapping. This is an increasingly common kind of attack on cylinders which is where the break line of the lock is attacked by a tool that is specially designed to break the front of the cylinder to allow the door to be opened. This is a much faster and easier way to gain access than using a multipoint locking system. It also leaves less evidence of the break-in which could hinder insurance claims.
Spring Cassette
This spring cassette is found within the base plate of the door handle. It offers a spring-loaded solution to help return your multipoint lock handles back to their normal position after using. The handles were previously equipped with no spring, and would slide when the locking mechanism was disconnected. Adding this simple component is among the best ways to correct this and it is also an excellent way to stop your upvc doors from getting stuck in either closed or open position, as these are not always easy to manually close by hand.
The spring cassettes were made to be used with a sprung multipoint locks. They won't work with handles that aren't sprung, and you will have to cut a hole in the backplate to allow them to fit. (Please look at the image for a technical diagram). These cassettes are a solution for damaged or missing cassettes that are in the backplate of uPVC door handles . They feature a square cut-out that can accommodate an 8mm spindle, and are sold as a set.
